Description: Obé’s fitness philosophy is simple: move everyday, and with 22 daily live classes and over 5,000 on demand workouts available to stream anytime anywhere, they certainly make it easy to live up to their motto.

Their easy to use online streaming platform offers a large variety of at home workouts making daily movement accessible to just about anyone looking to sweat. Classes include Sculpt, Power, HIIT, Dance, Bounce, Boxing, Pilates, Barre, Yoga, Meditation, and Prenatal + Postnatal classes with the ability to filter based on class type, length, fitness level, body focus, impact, instructor, and equipment.

They also offer a variety of curated training programs like “28 day Sculpt, Burn, Repeat”, “15 day Yoga Deep Dive”, and “30 day  Endorphins” to keep you accountable and ensure you never miss a workout.

Overall Vibe: Obé is all about making movement fun (aka full of bright fun colors and upbeat instructors) with a major emphasis on building a community.

Length: Varies based on class (ranges from 10 - 60 minutes).

Intensity: 2/10 – 6/10—varies based on class type and equipment but very doable for all levels. In my opinion I felt like classes such as HIIT where I expected intensity levels to range from moderate to high were actually quite low in reality and therefore a bit of a disappointment.

Sweat Level: 2/10 – 5/10—varies based on class type and length.

Equipment: Sculpt (light ankle/hand weights and bands), Power (light to heavy weights of your choosing), HIIT (ranges from no equipment to weights of your choosing), Dance (bodyweight), Bounce (trampoline), Boxing (no gloves necessary), Barre (yoga mat, ankle weights, and home props like chairs if needed), Pilates and Yoga (yoga mat, blocks, yoga rope), Meditation (no equipment). 

*Although each class provides a recommended list of equipment, no equipment is required

Pros: For those who crave class variety, this platform allows you to incorporate various workouts from a large on-demand library into your at home workout routine.

Cons: Although the app provides plenty of variety, we found that the quality of the workouts themselves to be poor and not challenging enough (important things to consider when factoring in cost). We also felt like the instructors focused too much on community engagement (they continuously call out names of those who have joined the workout) and not enough on instruction and guidance throughout each workout. The Peloton App is similar in this way (although to a much lesser degree), however they did not sacrifice quality and instruction for engagement.

Is it worth it? When factoring in price and the quality of workouts, unfortunately we do not think this platform is worth it. Finding joy in movement truly varies from person to person and connecting with instructors can make or break a workout…so although we aren’t personal fans it’s important to find and enjoy movement that works best for you!
